Cara is a native Tucsonan and a mama to one sweet little boy. She has many passions in life and has worked in social services as well as child care; she is also a poet who has been locally recognized with awards and published pieces. Making jewelry was one of her hobbies for years, until she decided to switch career paths to do creative work for a living. Cara has an avid interest in culturally based and alternative therapies which has been fueled by her travels in Europe and Central America. As a mother and an artist, she is thrilled with the opportunity to combine elements of art, healing, and parenthood into beautiful jewelry for other parents to enjoy.
The Materials
The jewelry is hand crafted from excellent quality precious and semi-precious gemstones from around the world, silver from Bali and Thailand, and recycled glass from Africa. These quality stones were sought out and gathered from the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, and local and international merchants. Stones have been selected based on their quality and their individual historical healing properties.
| The Inspiration
For thousands of years, individual gemstones have been associated with different healing and strengthening properties in the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual realms. These healing properties include improving focus and concentration, facilitating decision-making, aiding a positive outlook, promoting creativity, alleviating insomnia, and calming, motivating, and strengthening. Cara currently works with over sixty different precious and semi-precious stones.
Cara finds it relaxing and inspiring to work with these gemstones, and in selecting combinations of stones is attuned to both their colors and patterns and to the complementarity of their healing properties.
